Canada's newest convention centre - Ottawa plans to welcome the world
Sheraton Ottawa Hotel is welcoming a new downtown neighbor - the city's new convention centre. Ottawa's revitalized convention centre, built on the site of the former Ottawa Congress Centre, will open in April 2011 and feature an environmentally friendly design incorporating new standards for sustainable practices. Additionally, in honour of Ottawa's annual tulip festival, the exterior of the structure is designed to resemble a tulip. With the new convention centre, Ottawa looks forward to welcoming guests from around the world as the new facility features:
- 192,000 total square feet
- 56,000 square foot exhibition hall
- 21,300 square foot ballroom overlooking the Rideau Canal and Parliament Hill
